The Process

01.
EXPLORE
Explore hostel-volunteering experiences in dream locations across the world.
01

Complete Profile.

After signing up, complete your profile. Volunteers that add lots of details and photos to their profile tend to get accepted by more hostels, because the hostel wants to get to know you before committing to having you stay there for weeks. Attach your social media profiles and blog if you have one. Volunteers with an engaged social media following tend to get accepted by the best hostels because hostels will get more exposure online.
02

Send Requests to Hostels.

Explore which cities you are interested in volunteering in and start sending requests to hostels. Your requests should be personalized and explain how you will be able to help the hostel. Also, set which cities you are interested in traveling to over the next 6 months so hostels can send you invitations. Only pro hostels have this feature, however, so it is up to the volunteer to send requests.
03

Successful Hostel-Volunteer Experience.

Try to be respectful and as helpful as possible. The first few days can really set the tone for the rest of the hostel-volunteering experience. Post on social media while volunteering to help the hostel get more online exposure. Remind guests who had a great time to leave a review. Help create a fun, social atmosphere at the hostel by interacting with all of the guests, especially the new or quiet ones. Most importantly, have the time of your life!

Testimonials

James H, England
As someone who’s spent more than five years travelling and volunteering at hostels around the world, I can honestly say that Hosteleer has been a game changer for me. I love the fact that I can get a realistic idea of what a hostel and job will be like before I get to my destination, and it eliminates the need to reach out individually to hostels or knock on doors around town, so it’s never been simpler to find a place to work. There’s no better way to get to know a place intimately than volunteering, and I’ve had incredibly unique travel experiences that wouldn’t have been possible without Hosteleer.
